About the project

Digital Stories: the meaningful stories that keep happening online too. Since March 2021.

Welcome!

My name is Georgi Karamanev, and I am glad to welcome you here, so that we can get to know each other, talk, and think together about some of the most important topics of the present and the future.

The Digital Stories project has existed since March 2021, and in its short history it has won impressive recognition: five consecutive awards, something of a record, in the Web Report competition for good journalism, as well as the prize in the journalism category of the BAIT awards (the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies), held under the patronage of President Rumen Radev.

Web Report 2023

The best of the site's first years (together with many additional texts) also exists as a book that collects 32 important Digital Stories (in Bulgarian).

Every week one or two new Digital Stories appear here: every Friday and sometimes on Tuesday. The English version is a translation of the Bulgarian original; every story carries a link to it.

In the Interviews section, people from different fields with an interesting point of view on our digital future are my guests.

Technology is for all the hyped and the little-known fields that have the power to shape today and sketch tomorrow.

Stories holds the exciting human tales that happen because of, thanks to, or in spite of our digital present.

You will also find the articles grouped by topic.

On this site you will not find any form of advertising or paid content. It is a space for sharing meaning.

I am deeply interested in how technology changes our lives and how we remain human in spite of, in defiance of, and sometimes even thanks to that very technology.

I believe in metaphors. I believe in the power of words. I love words.

I love the meaningful stories that don't fit the templates, the ones that make us laugh or cry.

I wish we talked and thought more about what social networks give us and take from us, about moving our lives into the network, about our contact with screens and keyboards from the time we are babies. I wish we discussed and followed what the rise of artificial intelligence, of virtual people, of quantum computers, of blockchain and other modern fields will bring, as they arrive to change us from the ground up.

I have two sons, and nothing matters more to me than that they live in a more beautiful world.

I would be glad to talk and discuss. Humanly, without pretension. To learn what you think about each of the topics I present. To enter together the world of technology and the stories that never stop happening, that keep making us smile and cry in the age of the internet.

I would be glad if you gave me the idea for the next digital story; in return you will get a small gift (here)!

Happy reading!

Digital Stories is and will remain an entirely non-commercial venture, to which I devote a lot of time and effort. Creating the site does take certain costs, though. If you can and wish to support it, you can now do so. Of course, every kind word and every share of the topics remains just as important a support.
