Who I am

I started “publishing” my first home-made newspaper at six, and by fifth grade I was the editor-in-chief of our class newspaper. I knew I wanted to be a journalist before I could even write, and, quite naturally, I went on to study journalism at Sofia University.
After my second year I landed an internship in the social affairs desk of 24 Chasa, one of Bulgaria's biggest dailies, where I was lucky to have great teachers. In four years I learned what it means for the issue to have to fly to the printers whether or not the muse has handed you a compelling page.
In 2009 I joined Magazine 8, where I was deputy editor-in-chief. Every interesting idea there had fertile ground to bloom into an inspired piece. I had the incredible chance to interview countless remarkable people and to write travelogues. In 2016 my debut novel, I dodeto se razhdat lachite (And Until the Rays Are Born), came out, telling the story of the remarkable photographer Yordan Yordanov, known as Yuri.
After 14 years of earning my living by writing journalism, from 2017 I had to add another form of writing, in the programming language JavaScript.
Since 2018 I have worked as a programmer, in front-end technologies, including as a team lead.
In 2020 I created this site, and it became a cause and a meaning. Step by step, Digital Stories established itself with its unconventional outlook, its experiments and its guests.
A record five times I won the Web Report award for clean journalism. In 2023 I also received the prize in the journalism category of the BAIT awards (the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies), held under the patronage of President Rumen Radev.

I love intellectual challenges: I am a three-time winner of the TV quiz show The Last One Wins (and four more times in the themed competition of Sofia's quiz clubs in 2025).
I have edited more than 20 books on various subjects, published by Bulgarian History and Club 8. I compiled the collection Inspector Strezov Returns, 50 cases of the cult detective created by Dr. Svetoslav Slavchev.
In 2023 my second book came out, this time collecting 32 important Digital Stories (in Bulgarian).
I have two sons, who always find a way to make things more fun.

I would be glad if you gave me the idea for the next digital story; in return you will get a small gift (here)!
