Digital Stories won the Technology and Innovation category at the Web Report 2022 awards! The competition for pure journalism, organized by the Bulgarian news portal Dir.bg, judges work in six categories.
This is perhaps the most respected journalism prize in the country, because it is awarded through a transparent process by an impressive jury that includes some of the most established names in the profession, representatives of all the national media, journalists with vast experience, and media specialists. This year 130 journalists entered the competition with 367 pieces.
The winning piece was “What Do Google and Facebook Know About You? And Why It Matters”.
The awards were presented for the fifth year in a row. This year we also managed to set a record of sorts. In 2019 the same category went to a text about fake news from Spisanie 8 (8 magazine), and last year to a piece on the future of journalism from Digital Stories; this makes it the third award for Georgi Karamanev as an author. The recognition is all the more impressive given the other winners and entrants over the years—established journalists and representatives of the big media outlets.

Another piece from Digital Stories made it into the top three: in the Culture and Art category, the jury shortlisted “Munch. The Scream. A Short History of the Selfie”.
Congratulations to the other winners!
